Enjoy a Wee Dram

Well of course there is only one way to avoid a hangover - don't drink. However, if you do want to enjoy a wee dram and to avoid the consequences you can minimize damage to your liver recover more quickly.
While Drinking
Take 500mg of N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) and 1500mg of Vitamin C after every drink. This will protect your liver and help it process the alcohol.
Drink 1 glass of water for every 2 drinks. This will minimize dehyadration (the cause of the headache).
Mix and drink 750ml of electrolyte replacement drink before going to bed. The best replacements have high ratios of potassium to sodium (5 to 1 for example). Gatorade and other popular products don't have enough potassium in them. The replacement I use for cycling SISU Hydrade is the most effective replacement I've used..
Next Morning
Mix and drink 750ml of electrolyte replacement drink mentioned above
Take the following pills:
- Vitamin B 100 complex
- Vitamin C 1500mg
- N-Acetyl Cysteine 500mg
- Niacin 500-1,000mg
- Glutamine 2.5g (1/2 tsp) in 12oz of water
- Electrolyte replacement pill or fresh vegetable juice (carrots, celery and lettuce works for me). They are available from most health food stores.
Keep drinking lots of water during the day. This will assist your liver in processing the alcohol.
