They Make Us Fight

June 8, 2007
No normal person wants to fight. What sane man or woman with a family, friends, and life would ever want to leave it to fight a war? None period. This is a universal truth of human existence planet wide.
But fight we do. Why? It doesn't take long, if you actually think about it for a while, to figure it out. A normal person will fight legitimately only if he/she is attacked and defending themselves, and then only as a last resort. Other than that, a normal person will only fight if our leaders create an enemy for us and use propaganda to make us afraid and to hate. It is our leaders who make us afraid, make us hate then harness it to make us fight. An ancient tradition/trick that the people always fall for.
But the reality is, our supposed enemies are no different than we are. They want peace and prosperity as much as we do. It is only our leadership and their leadership that want to fight. But they don't fight in defense of their families. They fight for their own personal gain - for profit, power or advancement of some agenda we don't know about.
So, the next time you feel you are being led down the garden path by a constant barrage of frightening government images and messages to encourage you to fight in a war or support a war, ask yourself if it's really to protect your family and if your country is really in immediate danger or if it's to advance someone else's agenda. As long as you stop to think for a few minutes before you act, the answer is pretty obvious.
