The Most Dangerous Technology: RFID Tags

March 1, 2007
Simply put, RFID is the single most dangerous technology invented to date.
RFID chips are now so small that they can be implanted in people, identification such as a driver's license (along with all kinds of biometric data like facial recognition, fingerprints, DNA and retinal scans), all manufactured products, clothing and even money. Tracking technology was introduced by some manufacturers of cars as far back as 1998.
RFID not only encodes information like your existing bank card but actually transmits it.

This is an image from an actual tag from a Gillette Mach3 razor blade.
Other items like Kraft Cream Cheese have been tagged with this technology without consumers knowing about it.
The European Union is already using biometric national ID cards and plans to use the technology on their currency. I mean, think about this for a minute. This technology allows governments and corporations to track your exact location at all times and if used on currency every one of your purchases. And it gets worse from there - with the minute size of these chips (the size of the dot on the letter i) they can put it on every item you purchase including any consumer item, food and clothing even after you purchase them. Seems to me that someone wants to track the exact location of all of THEIR assets. This technology is already in use today in the UK.
Even years ago (post 9/11), it was chilling to watch people from outside the US and Canada being retinally scanned for entry into the US while I was entering the US for various work activities.
On a personal level, and to my everlasting regret, I have already been added to the US database when I had my fingerprints taken before working at the NASA Johnson facility. Although I did find it odd since this wasn't required before 9/11 and I was admitted previously. It seemed so innocuous at the time, but with current developments in the geopolitical sphere it now seems Orwellian.
Some of you are probably thinking well sure any technology can be used or abused. You are absolutely correct. The key factor is the intent of those that govern and are in control and power. If they are sufficiently constrained we are safe, if they are not, we all end up living in a fascist state. So the question becomes, how much trust do you have in your political and corporate leaders? Think hard on this one because the consequences are absolutely serious.
My advice - do NOT allow yourself to be biometrically scanned (finger prints, retinal scan, facial scan or others) under any circumstance unless you want your privacy to end. I mean it and don't allow it even if this means rejecting a driver's license.
